When the Masters Are Gone, Their Art Remains.

WA-GACHI is dedicated to preserving the beauty and artistry of traditional Japanese wagashi mold craftsmanship for future generations.

Our inspiration began during the New Year of 2023, when we encountered historic wooden molds once used to create traditional Japanese confectionery. Holding these molds in our hands, we were deeply moved by the extraordinary level of craftsmanship carved into each piece.

For generations, these intricate molds were hand-carved by skilled Japanese artisans. However, as wagashi shops continue to disappear and master craftsmen retire, the tradition itself is rapidly fading. Today, only a handful of mold artisans remain in Japan.

Many historic molds are no longer available to collectors and risk being lost over time.

Rather than allowing these cultural treasures to disappear, WA-GACHI digitally preserves their artistic designs through advanced 3D scanning technology and faithfully recreates them using precision reproduction techniques.

These are not antique originals.

They are Heritage Reproductions — preserving the spirit, dimensional beauty, and cultural significance of traditional Japanese craftsmanship through digital preservation and modern technology.

The reproduction process itself was highly challenging. Many machining companies considered the intricate hand-carved details nearly impossible to reproduce accurately. After months of experimentation and collaboration with specialists across Japan, we finally succeeded in creating faithful reproductions that preserve the delicate beauty of the original designs.

What fascinated us most was the reaction from experienced craftsmen and engineers. Many were drawn to the project not because it was easy, but because the beauty and precision of the original molds inspired them to take on the challenge.

Each piece is individually managed with a serial number, certificate, and QR authentication system as part of our ongoing heritage preservation project.

Through Heritage Reproduction, WA-GACHI seeks to connect traditional Japanese artistry with future generations around the world.
